"Three-hour marathon meals, drinking bubbly before noon and enjoying it all on a patio are just a few reasons why brunch is part of the Southern California culture. And here's a few places to get the brunch season underway. In the wake of its success on Melrose Avenue, Rick Bayless' Red O has branched out to Orange County, specifically, posh Fashion Island in Newport Beach. The space is similar to the original location, but with its own character, which announces its presence immediately with two walls of tequila bottles, which lead into a vast bar and lounge, before opening into an even larger dining room."

"Feast on a menu of indulgent selections, just steps from the sea at Casa Ado’s new brunch. The classic Italian trattoria, known for it’s homemade pastas and stunning views, offers signature dishes like prosciutto with eggs and asparagus; grilled baby calamari served on a bed of lightly spiced green chard; grilled ciabatta with chicken breast, avocado, tomato and melted brie; and more including traditional fare like steak and eggs, and eggs Benedict."

"With the waves and sunset so close by, Casa Ado at the end of Washington Boulevard near the Venice pier is utterly charming. Owner Paolo Cesaro and chef Antonio Mure, who also have Ado in nearby Venice, serve traditional Italian dishes in a candlelit, intimate space for a molto bene experience. Starting this weekend, there's now brunch on Saturday and Sunday, so that prosciutto you usually get with a dollop of creamy burrata comes with asparagus and two sunny-side up eggs. That prosecco ends up in a glass of orange juice for mimosas. The menu has a mix of Italian dishes - calamari and spicy chard, penne pasta, meatballs and chicken panini - but also breakfast burritos, bagels and lox and tacos...because everyone loves tacos. If you're looking for a new spot at the beach, give it a go."
